You need to purchase a tape that is specifically made for the blade of your stick.  The size of this type of hockey tape will also depend on the type of stick that you have.  The price for a goalie hockey tape is more expensive if you compare it to the price of the blade tape that is used by a regular player.  You can purchase hockey tape individually but since you will be changing the tape at almost every game that you will be playing, it is more practical for you to purchase a number of rolls at one time to save on the cost and of your time in going to the sport shop to purchase a roll.
